A mature CMDB should contain up-to-date asset information along with the relationships. Optimizing CMDB can be an expensive proposition. In fact, if CMDB optimization is carried out in a haphazard non-targeted manner, it will become harder to justify the investments made to optimize CMDB and improve the data quality. We need to appreciate that CIs are not equally important; some are more important than others.
